“Black Hole” is a seductive blend of influences from Cronenberg, Spielberg, and Lyne (and “Gremlins”), with which director Moonika Siimets has managed to create the ultimate sinful pleasure film. Compared to her previous film “The Little Comrade,” this is an incredible and radical change in style.

The film follows three interconnected stories. Sirje voluntarily agrees to participate in extraterrestrial scientific experiments; Jüri falls for his alluring neighbor, and Uma is a fearless bodybuilder who dreams of a world without violent men so that she can help her partner Mariliis heal.

Inspired by short stories by Andrus Kivirähk and Armin Kõomägi, the clever screenplay intertwines cosmic orgasms, existential desire, and ancient culinary wisdom. The black hole is not where one might expect it, but Kri-in-Poulsen from the Milky Way might show the right way.
